in this guide we will let you know how you can simply root asus rog phone 2 no matter you are at android 9 or android 11 this method will work without any trouble make sure you have your backup because unlocking boot-loader will erase and factory reset you asus rog 2 to default settings so you will lose your date if you havent any backup your device do that
This is the official method, so this will work on all Asus ROG 2 devices running Android 9 to 10, and also Android 11. Let’s get started
- Head over to https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ROG-Phone/HelpDesk_BIOS/ And Select driver and tools. Now select Android as the operating system and download the latest unlock tool. Remember, old ones don’t work anymore, so you have to use the latest one that will defiantly work on Android 9 & 10 without any issues
- Update phone to the latest version from https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ROG-Phone/HelpDesk_BIOS/
- If you already have the updated version, then you can simply download the firmware zip file only
- Now install the Asus unlock app, and after that, unlock your boot loader simply
- Enable Developer on the phone
- — Settings > System > About phone > Software information
- –Tap “Build number”7 times and from there, OEM unlock option turn that on, if there is no option, leave it
- After updating to the latest version and unlocking the boot-loader, just go to https://magiskmanager.com/downloading-magisk-manager
- Install Magisk Manager
- Now open the firmware zip file we downloaded for updating the rog 2 and extract boot.img and copy that file to your phone storage
- Make Sure the installed version and the firmware zip version are the same
- Open Magisk Manager and select patch boot.img from the menu and select the boot.img file you just extracted from firmware.zip file
- Magisk Manager will patch the file now, just copy that patched boot.img file to your pc
- Put your ROG2 into fastboot mode. While the phone is off, hold down the volume up and power buttons
- Use minimal adb and fastboot
- To confirm that your device is connected in fastboot mode, just type fastboot devices. This will show random numbers or serial if not, then try another data cable or check the correct fastboot and adb drivers
- now in fastboot windows. Just type fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img or the file name of your patched boot file
- After the successful flash type fastboot reboot
- Open magisk Manager now. This will update and install magisk
- That’s it, your Asus ROG 2 is now rooted
